Staiy, CLOTHESfriends and Purewaste have collaborated together for a change in sustainable fashion at the GreenTech Festival 2022

greentech Festival

At this year’s GreenTech Festival, the largest green technology event worldwide, Staiy joins forces with the fashion rental app CLOTHESfriends and Pure Waste, the brand that produces and offers sustainable clothing made of 100% recycled fibres.

It comes as no surprise that the fashion industry is one of the largest culprits bringing harm to our planet. In fact, the fashion industry is the second-biggest consumer of water and is responsible for about 10% of global carbon emissions. In Europe, each person throws 14 kg of textiles to waste yearly and an estimated 92 million tons of textile waste is created each year globally. By 2030, we are expected to be discarding more than 134 million tons of textiles a year. But together, we can change this.

They immediately clicked and noticed how much they had in common, which led to this incredible friendship and partnership. A true “modern day love story”, as Charlotte describes it.

Staiy

For this year's Green Tech Festival, we at Staiy are partnering with two companies that share our mission of driving sustainable culture forward and changing the fashion industry for the better of the planet and for all its inhabitants. We are proud to announce collaboration with CLOTHESfriends and Pure Waste, two companies that are making sustainability the new standard. With this collaboration, we hope to bring awareness to the necessary and essential changes the fashion industry must undergo to reduce and eliminate the unsustainable production of clothing that is harming our planet and pose alternate routes that are more sustainable and ethical. With Staiy’s collaboration with CLOTHESfriends and Pure Waste, we hope to bring these issues to light and teach people about the impacts you have as a consumer while offering ways that you can help the planet and all the other beautiful people that inhabit our beloved yet neglected world. We also hope this collaboration will make stakeholders aware of their impact as well and ultimately empower them to adopt sustainable alternatives. Here is a little more about our partners this year.

CLOTHESFriends: The Fashion Rental App

CLOTHESfriends is a convenient fashion rental app that allows people to rent, lend, and shop, therefore promoting this notion of circular fashion consumption. There is about two trillion dollars worth of clothing that is not used, and CLOTHESfriends is capitalizing on the potential of these unused clothes by offering a sustainable service where people are able to rent and sell their products with CLOTHESfriends. According to CLOTHESfriends, 40% of all clothes are not used and 85% of all discarded clothing ends up in landfills. These numbers are not sustainable and CLOTHESfriends recognizes this, which is why they developed their convenient yet also sustainable fashion rental service.

With this rental service option, CLOTHESfriends is giving people the opportunity to redefine the life of clothing towards a route of sustainability while enabling consumers an outlet to access clothes in a sustainable way.

By expanding the lifespan of clothes, not only are more consumers able to bring another life to the garment, but extending the lifespan of clothes by nine months reduces its carbon, water, and waste footprint by around 20-30% each. With this, the consumer and the planet will be happy! At CLOTHESfriends, they want to rebuild the appreciation for clothing and promote conscious consumption, both of which have been lost in the unsustainable abyss of fast fashion. CLOTHESfriends is more than an app; they are revolutionizing the ways of shopping both for the good of the planet and for style, and you can be part of this revolution!

Pure Waste & its recycled fibres

Pure Waste is a Finnish clothing company offering high-quality and sustainable products that are made of 100% recycled fibres, meaning that no virgin materials are used to manufacture their garments. It takes 99.9% less water and 50% fewer carbon emissions to produce a Pure Waste garment compared to making one garment from virgin materials. With this in mind, Pure Waste developed their mission to create recycled products that inspire change towards a world without textile waste. Pure waste wants us all to “Think Again” about our consumption and challenge ourselves to question the unsustainable norms that dominate the textile industry. Change only comes with thinking again and re-evaluating the impact you have as a consumer and the ways in which you can explore more sustainable options and habits. We all have a part to play. When it comes to everything Pure Waste believes in, they stand true to their principles when guiding their operations by consistently championing Pioneering, Sustainability, Equality, and Resilience. Pure Waste ensures they are doing their bit in reducing the environmental footprint but hopes more companies will follow suit and pursue a more ecological direction in their operations. Great change can come from any company and any person, but it will take time and commitment.
