Born in Sweden and raised part time in California, Amanda Djerf is a 29 year old surfer who found happiness and a home in Biarritz, France. She shares: “I spent my twenties traveling to different surf destinations, while pursuing a law degree and then leaving it for a more simple lifestyle. My friends would describe me as a restless morning person who is addicted to coffee, loves being surrounded by people and wants to be outside from dusk till dawn.” If that isn’t the response of a true surfer!
“I spent my twenties traveling to different surf destinations, while pursuing a law degree and then leaving it for a more simple lifestyle. ”
She describes her personal style as “relaxed, a bit oversized and definitely influenced by life by the beach”. She continues, “I love timeless and simple pieces with some fun and colorful details”. If she finally found her ultimate style in comfortable, oversized yet vibrant pieces, she reflects how it has “grown a bit more playful and girly” over the years. “I still struggle to wear skirts and heels but I’m working on it”, she admits.
Amanda Djerf reminds us that although the surfer lifestyle can have a considerable influence on one’s fashion style, primarily focusing on sporty, comfortable and beachy vibes, one can also make it look more feminine!

As an influencer herself, she started her journey as a genuine and natural move, simply sharing about her “daily life of waves, outfits, food and sunsets”. Through her platform, Amanda Djerf hopes to have a useful impact on her audience. She insists, “I want to show people that it’s completely possible to live out one's dream life, and to enjoy a more simple life where focus isn’t on achievements or a career, but on doing what makes you happy”.
When asked about her own definition of sustainability, Amanda Djerf replies that it’s about making conscious decisions. When it comes to fashion, I’ve always loved vintage/second hand and I try to avoid fast fashion and instead invest in timeless and long lasting pieces that you can mix and match and wear in a lot of different ways”. If timelessness, vintage and versatility are the keywords of her fashion philosophy, sustainability at its core is far more global and authentic than materialistic items. For Amanda, “sustainability stretches further than the materialistic world. It’s about living a sustainable lifestyle where you stay true to who you are. Living close to nature helps me stay connected to what is important to me, and reminds me that I don’t need to make spontaneous and unnecessary purchases”.
Now let’s take a dive in Bonanza Collective, Amanda Djerf’s surf and yoga retreat company. When asked about what inspired her to create her own surf and yoga retreat company, Amanda explains “over the past years I’ve received so many dm’s from girls asking for surf advice and looking for connections. Community has always been important to me, and settling in France, I quickly realized I was at a place where I had the opportunity to connect all of these girls and women in my dm’s. When I met my friend and now business partner Elin who had a similar vision, it felt like it all just aligned”.
Moreover, Bonanza Collective is truly unique, as it’s very personal and authentic. It’s basically us bringing the girls along in our everyday life and sharing all of the spots that we’ve come to love since moving here. We surf, cook amazing dinners together, go on road trips, yoga, drink wine, and truly bask up all of the beauty that the bask country has to offer. Not to mention the charming villa we stay in, a French oasis”, Amanda adds.
A First Step
Her ultimate dream for Bonanza Collective is “that it will be a growing community where women connect and support each other! Our first edition is a beautiful example. We hosted a group of 12 girls and from day one it was so much love! The retreat ended with girls getting matching tattoos, one girl hired another, and two continued to road trip together. We all still keep in contact and the best is seeing how we all still continue to support each other!” - she talks about women empowerment.
It is thus no surprise that when asked about what she wanted participants to get out of this experience with Bonanza Collective, Amanda answered “I want them to feel inspired to enjoy the bonanza that life truly is when we make the most out of every day. Of course, I also want them to feel part of the surf community, with a new group of ladies by their side”.
